The countdown is officially on for Haiku Hands‘ self-titled LP – anyone who is partial to a dancefloor boogie is undoubtedly already anticipating the wildly charming choreo and choruses that will inevitably be featured as part of the dance-pop dignitaries’ debut project. Last month, we were gifted the first taste of the album (out Sept 10), with “Fashion Model Art”, an exuberant collab which sees the Syd-Melb trio joining forces with NYC duo SOFI TUKKER.
So how exactly did this perfect pairing come to be? SOFI TUKKER explains: “We met Haiku Hands on tour in Australia. After seeing them literally once live, we immediately asked them to go on tour with us. We’ve been good friends ever since. It was so fun working on this track with them. We love how they build in humour and choreography into their music.” (If you’ve ever seen Haiku Hands live, you’ll back this 100%).
The video for the track features mesmerising choreography courtesy of Sydney director Jasmin Tarasin. Intertwined bodies in runway-ready ensembles weave their way through commanding chants and sharp synths, balancing militant and fluid movement for all-round good energy, that you can channel right here:
