Emerging Perth duo Slumberjack (Morgan Then and Fletcher Ehlers) have pushed themselves to the forefront of the trap and future bass movement over the last year with progressive anthems like “Horus” (which was snapped up for the latest global Tom Ford campaign), “Enigma” and, most recently, “Open Fire” (featuring Australian music industry icon Daniel Johns).
Directed by Jonathon Lim, the video for “Open Fire” is a visual exploration of China’s mind-blowing role in the implementation of the modern digital age. With over 24 million internet-addicted children in China, the clip follows a young female protagonist removing herself from the bleak nature of her reality by immersing herself in an alternate synthetic world. “Open Fire”‘s cinematic, glitchy production is a perfect match for Lim’s compelling art direction and surreal style.
