Leaving Coachella in its dust as the single most anticipated Music x Farshun date on the calendar, AusMusic T-Shirt Day is being brought back early this year by triple j, giving us an excuse (as if we needed one) to support our fave local artists by copping and rocking their gear.
The coronavirus pandemic has hit the industry hard, with the cancellation of numerous gigs and festivals completely erasing sources of income for many. Buying merch is one key way that you can directly support these incredibly talented artists who have been hit hard. Since 2013, Ausmusic T-Shirt Day has served to help musicians who are doing it tough, and the usual November shindig is now being pushed forward to Friday April 17 to address the current circumstances.
If you are able to, hit up an artist’s website to purchase one of their smashing tees. If you’re not in a financial position to snap up something new, you can still get involved by perhaps reworking old merch you have on hand, or creating something new altogether. Whip out your tee on the big day, and share a photo of yourself wearing it online with the hashtag #AusmusicTshirtDay.
