The nation’s musos have been using time in isolation to flex their creative juices, sharing new material they’ve actively been working on via socials, and using the #covered19 hashtag being used to unveil stay-at-home (and bloody brilliant) reworks of each others’ work.
One magical piece of art that has emerged from these bizarre times has been a collab between power couple Ali Barter and Holy Holy guitarist Oscar Dawson. Barter and Dawson, both virtuosic in their pop rock and indie rock fields respectively, were challenged via triple j Drive’s Hobba & Hing to whip up a song together in the space of 24-hours. Catch was, they had to include themes sent in by callers, which as you can imagine saw listeners’ trapped imaginations run rampant: ASMR, a couple on the rocks, call and response, a “standard sandwich”, and masturbation all made the cut.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, the duo emerged victoriously, creating “4 Days (an isolation love song)”, taking over remixes of Cardi B‘s coronavirus rant to lead the soundtrack for this eerie era. Check out the unexpected banger here.
