For millions of 20-somethings who grew up through what many believe to be the golden era of indie rock, Bloc Party‘s 2005 debut ‘Silent Alarm’ album is the soundtrack to countless formative memories; out of control house parties, unforgettable road trips, and life-changing travel experiences all come rushing back with the droning opening lines of “Like Eating Glass” (or pretty much any other track on the record too).
On Friday night, the iconic British outfit brought overwhelming waves of nostalgia over thousands of Sydney fans for last of two back-to-back ‘Silent Alarm’ anniversary shows at the Hordern Pavilion. Powering through the full album in reverse, original frontman Kele Okerere and the new modern lineup also threw in fan favourites from later albums for a completely satisfying set that catered to old and new Bloc Party fans alike.
